11th Annual Kelly Mohring Memorial Golf Classic

The 11th Annual Kelly Mohring Memorial Golf Classic took place on Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 at the Pine Knot Golf & Country Club in Dorchester.

Kelly, our Development Planning Specialist, passed away in March 2000 after a brave battle with cancer. She left behind her husband Jeff and their daughter Hailey, who is now 12 1/2 years old. Our staff decided to use our annual golf tournament to raise money for a Trust Fund that has been established for Hailey, whose challenge is to live a happy, productive life with cerebral palsy. Hailey requires some very specialized and often expensive equipment and care. In addition to regular wear and tear, much of Hailey's equipment needs to be replaced as she outgrows it.

We're delighted to report that the 2010 tournament raised over $17,600 for the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund! We offer a heartfelt THANK YOU to all our sponsors for helping us provide this important support to Hailey.

Every year, the Trust Fund provides thousands of dollars to assist with the purchase of items and services for Hailey. Most recently, the Trust Fund purchased a combination bike/wheelchair (pictured at left), and replaced Hailey’s stroller and bath seat unit. The Trust Fund is also providing before and after school care and massage therapy for Hailey. Previous purchases have included a track/lift system that was installed throughout the main corridors in Hailey’s home, cement work to allow for an outside porch lift system, an adjustable bed, specialized car seats, computer hardware and software, and braces. Some of the Trust Fund money has been invested, as well.
